Anthony Edwards is, without a doubt, one of the most promising players in the NBA right now.
His confidence and swagger are only topped by his skills, and it seems like it’s a matter of time before he takes over the league.
However, his confidence sometimes leads him to say things he shouldn’t say.
Granted, everybody can have their own opinion; that’s fair.
But talking just for the sake of it isn’t a good look.
That’s why plenty of veterans are clapping back at his comments, as he stated that Michael Jordan was the only player who had skill back in his era.
With that in mind, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett — both of who have been extremely supportive of Edwards in the past — set the record straight (via KG Certified & All The Smoke Productions).

Pierce started by stating that even though the individual skills are better now, that doesn’t mean players are better overall.
He thinks that players nowadays just train one-on-one or in drills, whereas back then, they used to play a lot of five-on-five and work on the actual fundamentals of the game.
Garnett believes that, on top of that level of understanding, the physicality of the game would’ve driven at least half of the players in the league away.
He states that the locker rooms were also different, and none of today’s shenanigans would’ve worked back then.
Good players would’ve thrived and adapted to any era, and that includes both Edwards and dozens of players from the earlier days.
