When they played against one another, Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant were two of the fiercest competitors in the NBA and never held back during their on-court battles.

But when the game was done, they were very close and created a strong friendship.

Garnett spoke with Stephen A. Smith and talked at length about just how much Bryant means to him.

He revealed that if he were to ever have a son, he would “dedicate” that child to Bryant, meaning that he would carry on the name of his late, great friend.

Garnett said that Bryant was a difficult competitor and that when a game started, he didn’t have any friends.

He would play with ferocity against anyone.

Many people thought that Bryant was a selfish player in his early years because of the way he relied solely on himself.

Eventually, fans would understand that all of that came from a place of demanding greatness from himself.

Bryant’s public image was something that he had in common with Garnett, who has also been called challenging to work with and selfish at times.

But these two also shared a similar NBA trajectory, entering the league as kids who were “nervous” and “gullible” about the league.

They wanted to succeed badly and were willing to pour their hearts and souls into the game.

They did just that and both Garnett and Bryant have secured their spots in NBA history.

Garnett said that he still misses his friend every day and celebrates him as if he were still alive.

By sharing stories and praise of Bryant, Garnett is doing his part to keep his legacy strong.
