Kevin Gausman is enjoying another special season in year two of his five-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The veteran right-hander has emerged as the team’s ace and is somebody they can trust in key spots.

Heading into Sunday’s start against the Minnesota Twins, the Blue Jays ace had a 5-3 record and owned a 2.63 ERA in his 13 starts.

Gausman also is approaching a Blue Jays record that is currently held by Roger Clemens.

Clemens had seven starts with 10 or more strikeouts and no walks allowed during his time with the Blue Jays.

Gausman now has five.

On Twitter, MLB Network posted a cool graphic that shows the list of Blue Jays pitchers with the most such starts.

Gausman is two behind Clemens on this list.

Tied in third place are Robbie Ray and the late Hall-of-Famer Roy Halladay, both of whom had four starts with 10 or more strikeouts and no walks during their time in Toronto.

This is certainly an elite list of Blue Jays pitchers who have accomplished this feat, and Gausman is quickly rising through the ranks.

He may soon catch and pass Clemens on this list, which would be an impressive accomplishment, given the accolades of Clemens’ career.

The 32-year-old began his career with the Baltimore Orioles before making brief stops with the Atlanta Braves, Cincinnati Reds, and San Francisco Giants.

Now with the Blue Jays, he has a chance to soon make some elite history and pass one of the all-time greats on an elite list.
