Because of his off-court actions, Kevin Porter Jr. has likely played his last game in the NBA.

But Porter, who was previously signed to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets, might have a second basketball career playing overseas.

According to NBACentral, Porter is signing a one-month, $10,000 contract with Greek basketball club PAOK BC.

Porter last played for the Rockets before he was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder and then promptly waived back in October.

This happened right after Porter was arrested and charged with assaulting his girlfriend.

A few months later, Porter pleaded guilty to assault and harassment and will avoid jail time if he finishes a treatment program.

This followed other legal problems that Porter had before, like a November 2020 arrest related to a loaded weapon in his car.

Additionally, Porter was fined by the league in January 2022 for getting into an altercation with a Rockets assistant coach.

Porter’s departure from the league was a troubling, disappointing fall from grace for the 23-year-old player, who averaged 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5 assists during his four seasons.

He isn’t the only player to find opportunities outside of the United States, but the chances of Porter ever playing in the NBA again are slim.

There are many athletes who sign contracts overseas but most of them have hopes of coming back to America to play someday.

But because of the severity of his charges, it seems unlikely that Porter will be an NBA player again, even if he completes his court-ordered treatment and finds success in foreign leagues.

However, it will be interesting to see if Porter is able to earn a second one-month contract, in Greece or beyond, after this one concludes.
