The Dallas Mavericks have their backs against the wall.

This is where good teams prove to be great, and this will be a strong test of their characters.

Some might argue that it should be up to their superstars to step up and embrace an even bigger role, but that’s not how Kevon Looney feels.

Talking to Draymond Green on his podcast, Looney argued that perhaps Luka Doncic should be a little less aggressive early in the first half and get his teammates involved instead (Via NBA Central).

Looney stated that, as a role player himself, he tends to get a little tense when he doesn’t get a layup or a dunk early in the game, which obviously leads to subpar shooting nights.

Doncic has been quite aggressive right out of the gate, but he’s also looked gassed late in games.

No one doubts his scoring ability, as he’s shown that he can pour buckets in bunches on any given night.

Maybe the Mavs should take a different approach and share the wealth early to get everybody into a rhythm, and that would also help Doncic stay fresher and more rested for when it matters the most.

Also, Kyrie Irving must step up and do what he was brought there to do.

Irving has been missing in action through the first two games of the series, doing more talking about Celtics fans than actual scoring, and that’s just not going to get the job done at this stage.
