The San Francisco 49ers have had one of the NFL’s most talented rosters over the last few years, but they have failed to take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

One reason why they haven’t gone all the way is the fact that they’ve been hit hard by injuries year after year.

So far in training camp, running back Elijah Mitchell has been sidelined, and now star tight end George Kittle is dealing with an adductor injury that Ari Meirov says will sideline him for the next week.

If Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs is the NFL’s best tight end, Kittle is right behind him.

Kittle put up 765 receiving yards and a career-high 11 touchdowns last season while being named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth time in the last five seasons.

But he tends to be injury-prone due to his hard-nosed style of play, and he missed the first two games of the 2022 season with a groin injury.

Last season, injuries resulted in the Niners using four different quarterbacks, and most notably, both Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson went down in the NFC Championship Game.

But if they manage to avoid major injuries this year, they should have an excellent shot at winning their sixth Super Bowl and their first since the 1994 campaign.

They had the NFL’s best defense last season, and it may become even better thanks to the arrival of standout defensive tackle Javon Hargrave.

On offense, they have plenty of weapons other than Kittle, including dual-threat running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk.
