The priority early on in NFL training camps is keeping everybody healthy, as the marathon is just beginning and no Super Bowl has ever been won in early August.

Thankfully for the Cleveland Browns, one key player dodged a major injury and is already back on the practice field.

Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot shared that right tackle Dawand Jones is practicing after tweaking his right shoulder.

This week, Jones exited practice briefly to have his shoulder checked by the medical staff but was able to return and finish then practice before then logging a full session with no limitations.

The 22-year-old had a strong rookie season filling in for injured starters last year before going down with an injury of his own, but he is fully recovered from knee surgery and will again be relied on as a pivotal depth piece.

Starters Jedrick Wills Jr. and Jack Conklin have yet to practice in training camp after each had knee surgery last year, but the team sounds positive that both will be ready to go before the season opener on Sept. 8.

Jones was a fourth-round pick out of Ohio State last year, and his ability to take over for Conklin following his injury was a big reason the Browns’ season didn’t completely derail amidst a slew of devastating injuries.

He may be headed back to the bench with Wills and Conklin nearing their returns, but the Browns will need him in case one of their starters goes down again.
