The Dallas Cowboys’ strange offseason continues to get stranger by the day as the front office has set the franchise up for a make-or-break year yet hasn’t made any big splashes to improve the team or generate any positive buzz, which isn’t typical of the league’s biggest franchise.

Former Cowboys wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson did his part to stoke the flame and suggested two stars shouldn’t show up for training camp.

Johnson said that star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and edge rusher Micah Parsons shouldn’t show up to camp without new contracts, saying “If I’m CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons, I’m not walking in the complex at all out in Oxnard when we start training camp in a couple of weeks.”

He added that Lamb is looking at about $150 million in a potential deal and that any potential fines for missing training camp are worth it, while Parsons is in the same boat and shouldn’t do anything other than ride a bike at training camp if he does show up, pointing out that he is only making $2.5 million this season (he has a $5.4 million cap hit, but a salary just under $3 million).

Dallas hasn’t extended contracts to head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott either, and both will be heading into contract years.

Wide receivers and edge rushers are getting huge bags left and right, so Lamb and Parsons are right for wanting to be taken care of, and if Dallas doesn’t do it, somebody else surely will.

It’s too early for fans to worry about these two forcing their way out, but the Cowboys should get them locked up sooner rather than later.
