Every single year, the Los Angeles Lakers are tangled up with the hottest names in the NBA business.

Thye’s had some of the best players in NBA history wear the Purple and Gold jersey, and that’s just the tradition Dr. Jerry Buss instilled in the team.

That has also led to some wild trade proposals and aspirations by the fans, as they’ve been used to having the best players in the league, but they also have to give up valuable things to get them.

With that in mind, former NFL star WR Keyshawn Johnson claims that the report about the Lakers targeting Donovan Mitchell was “problematic.”

Talking on “Undisputed,” he stated that this decision should be based entirely on LeBron James and whether he’s going to pick up his player option for next season.

“It’s based around LeBron…there’s no guarantee he’s going to opt in this summer,” Johnson said.

He thinks that otherwise, the Lakers roster could be watered down and not good enough to compete for a ring, even though Mitchell and Anthony Davis could give the Lakers “something.”

On top of that, it would be tough to come up with some good compensation without James there.

Johnson pointed out the fact that James wants to play with his son, Bronny, so he could just decide to leave and join whichever team gets him in the upcoming NBA Draft or signs him as an undrafted free agent.

Once again, LeBron could hold his team hostage with his decision, and he could set them back big time if he decides to just leave without giving them anything in return.
