With the Western Conference growing increasingly more competitive, the Sacramento Kings might feel the need to make a splash in free agency this summer.

Sacramento narrowly missed out on making the 2024 NBA Playoffs this past season, a step back after they ended the franchise’s postseason drought last year.

The Kings have pillars to build around in De’Aaron Fox and Domantis Sabonis, but need to improve on the margins if they hope to compete for a playoff spot during the 2024-25 NBA season.

Fox and Sabonis are two of the best offensive hubs in the NBA, though they need more help defensively to get to the next level.

Their style of play is fast and exciting, but giving up points to opposing teams has been a problem and they’ll need to address that either via free agent signing or trade.

However, Sacramento did manage to reach an agreement with Alex Len to have him serve as their backup center again via Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Alex Len intends to sign a one-year, $3.3 million deal to return to the Sacramento Kings, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Len will enter his fourth straight season as a reserve center in Sacramento,” Charania reported.

A true seven-footer, Len offers more rim and paint resistance than Sabonis does but isn’t much of an offensive threat.

Still, re-signing a bench member for the veteran’s minimum is good business for the Kings who will need to allocate their resources to other needs on the roster.

Len is a solid get, but Sacramento is far from done making moves.
