Over the course of his career in the NFL, star quarterback Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings has gone through a lot of ups and downs and always seemed to be playing on the edge of potentially being nothing more than a mediocre player at his position.
Although Cousins can struggle with interceptions throughout a season, the Vikings quarterback has always been consistent, leading back to his days with the then-Washington Redskins, as he was able to win games and put points on the board on a regular basis.
Unfortunately for Cousins, he’s never been able to break into that elite status of quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, and Joe Burrow, as he’s always been considered second-tier and potentially playing for his job in the NFL.
Heading into the 2023 NFL season, Cousins may very well be playing for his job, even though he led the team to a 13-4 record last year, which is a personal best for the veteran quarterback.
However, with a talented superstar wide receiver on the roster, Justin Jefferson, the Vikings are in win-now mode and are tired of the shortcomings in the NFL playoffs, meaning a change could be made after the upcoming season if Minnesota doesn’t live up to expectations.
Cousins recently admitted that this season, he might be on the hot seat in Minnesota, according to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert via JPAFootball.

Although Cousins knows that his job is potentially on the line in 2023, he seems to be comfortable in that position, as he claims that’s the way it has been for his entire playing career, which is pretty on point.
It will be interesting to see if Cousins can hold the decision-makers at bay for another season as he tries to finally have some success in the NFL playoffs, with arguably the best wideout in the game at his disposal.
