There have been many questions about Klay Thompson and his future with the Golden State Warriors.

But fans and analysts aren’t the only ones wondering what’s ahead for the five-time All-Star and four-time champion.

Thompson himself isn’t entirely sure what the rest of his career will look like, but he wants to stick with his team.

“I would love to be a Warrior for life… I realize that I see light at the end of the tunnel, (and) I’m not sure if I want to play until I’m 40, man. That sounds really exhausting,” Thompson told Sam Amick, via Legion Hoops.

Thompson is 34 years old, which means that he has six more seasons before he reaches that 40-year milestone.

Will Thompson really make good on the desire to retire before he gets to that age?

Does that mean he will play until he’s 39 or will he step away from the game before that?

And what are the chances of him really sticking with the Warriors until then?

Of course, it’s not entirely up to him and if the team’s front office decides it’s time for Thompson to go, he won’t have a say in the matter.

He can make his case to remain with Golden State as much as he wants but the team’s management has the ultimate power.

Thompson could ride out the rest of his career with the Warriors but there is also a chance he leaves the team soon.

He has yet to sign a contract extension with Golden State and the team could contemplate letting him go in the summer.

This season hasn’t been a good one for Thompson, with him averaging 17.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.

His regression has caused head coach Steve Kerr to move Thompson to the bench, which has seemed to help his game quite a bit, although he is still inconsistent.

The questions about Thompson remain and not even he knows exactly what’s next.
