It is the end of an era for the Golden State Warriors as Klay Thompson is leaving the team after years of helping them become a dynasty.
Thompson was close to many people on the team, including Steph Curry, but he had a special request for his pal during the negotiation process.
According to Anthony Slater, per 95.7 The Game, Thompson told Curry to not exert his influence.
He asked that Curry not demand the Warriors treat Thompson well on his behalf.
Instead, Thompson hoped the Warriors would do the right thing because they wanted to, not because they were forced to.

It is now very clear that a big split was coming all year long.
The season started on the wrong foot with the Warriors and Thompson not able to see eye-to-eye on a contract extension.
That loomed over everyone’s heads but things got worse when Thompson had serious shooting problems.
He seemed unhappy with himself and his team and it’s obvious that he was already getting ready to leave.
Curry could have pulled some strings and helped Thompson get what he wanted.
He has more than enough power to force the front office to meet his demands.
But Thompson didn’t want him to do that and he was hoping to see that the Warriors truly cared about him.
He didn’t want a new contract just because Curry forced one.
In the end, the Warriors and Thompson couldn’t come together and now he is heading to the Dallas Mavericks, where he is hoping to be treated better.
This is a radical change for Thompson and the Warriors but it might be for the best because these two were clearly drifting apart in a huge way.
