Over the summer, the Golden State Warriors made some drastic changes, with the team parting ways with guard Jordan Poole to bring in Chris Paul, signing Draymond Green to a four-year extension and seeing longtime general manager Bob Myers leave the franchise after helping the team win four titles.

Even though the team addressed many things over the NBA offseason, one player was still left in limbo, with sharpshooter Klay Thompson not getting a contract extension to secure his future with the team.

Now things have gotten a little tense between Thompson and the team, with reports surfacing about contract extension talks between both sides not going very well, as things are said to be far apart.

This has led to many believing that Thompson will be heading into a prove-it year with the Warriors with the genuine possibility that he could become a free agent next summer and available to the highest bidder.

Thompson appears to be embracing the challenge of playing a season where he’ll have to prove his worth to the team by posting the following on his Instagram account via NBA Central.

Thompson shared a picture of himself with a mean face and the audio set to Tupac Shakur’s “Me Against The World.”

Unfortunately for Thompson, he’s no longer the same player he once was before suffering injury after injury that derailed his career for a time.

Although Thompson has shown flashes of his old form, it’s mainly on the offensive end of the basketball floor, as he’s no longer considered to be one of the best two-way players in the league after having clearly lost a step or two defensively.

It’ll be an interesting year for Thompson as he’ll likely be highly motivated to show he can still get it done on both ends, even if he ultimately ends up signing elsewhere next summer.
