After having a breakout season during the 2023-24 campaign, even though they dealt with several injuries to star players, the New York Knicks headed into the NBA offseason determined to make their roster better and come back as perhaps the biggest threat to the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks were already a talented team with a bright future, as guard Jalen Brunson has become a legitimate superstar and the new face of the storied NBA franchise, but there definitely needs to be some roster improvements after the team lost to the Indiana Pacers in seven games in the second round of the NBA playoffs.

It didn’t take long for the Knicks to make a big splash this summer, with the team pulling off a blockbuster trade with the Brooklyn Nets in order to acquire star Mikal Bridges, who played with Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart at Villanova.

With the addition of Bridges, the Knicks will likely be considered to be a legitimate title contender right out of the gate next season, especially with Julius Randle and the recently re-signed OG Anunoby coming back healthy.

However, the team recently lost Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency, which might be why the team is targeting Walker Kessler in a potential trade with the Utah Jazz, according to Ian Begley of SNY via Evan Sidery of Forbes.

The Knicks have inquired about a potential trade for Walker Kessler, per @IanBegley (https://t.co/nZqU5Tq7cN).

Adding Kessler would be another game-changer for the Knicks as he’d be an incredible move for New York that would cap off arguably one of the best offseasons in team history.

It’ll be interesting to see if they can make this move and what the impact will be in the East.
