In 2021-22, Evan Fournier was a major part of the New York Knicks and started in all 80 games he played.

But in 2022-23, he started in just seven of the 27 games he appeared in and only averaged 6.1 points.

Fans of the team were happy with what they saw from the Knicks but they certainly didn’t see a lot of Fournier.

Now Fournier is telling his followers to not worry because he is coming back like an iconic fictional character.

As shared by NBACentral, Fournier said he is coming back like Goku from the anime series “Dragon Ball Z.”

Evan Fournier says he’s coming back like Goku after being benched by the Knicks all last season

“Do you know Dragon Ball Z? When the hero Goku finds himself on planet Namek, injured, in a regeneration capsule? I had this image in my head all year, every practice”

Fournier is about to enter the final guaranteed year of the four-year contract he signed a few seasons ago.

But many people aren’t sure where he will play most of the upcoming season.

He is currently still signed with the Knicks, of course, but will the front office decide to send Fournier away in a trade?

Just last week, he was attached to rumors that involved the Knicks, Phoenix Suns, and Indiana Pacers.

Those rumors never resulted in Fournier actually leaving the team.

But that doesn’t mean the Knicks are done hearing offers on the French star.

Fournier’s best season was back in 2019-20 with the Orlando Magic.

He was posting 18.5 points on 46.7% from the field.

In the past, Fournier has proven himself as a helpful and often reliable role player.

Additionally, he can usually shoot well from the perimeter.

He believes that he can come back better than before and will still do great things for the Knicks.

But if the team has grown cold on him, he might not spend his entire year in New York.
