Throughout the course of their history, the New York Knicks have had their fair share of questionable decisions.

They’ve missed chances of getting some of the best players in the game, either via trade or free agency, and it seems like they’re always knocking on the door of landing a star.

That was the case again when they intended to get Donovan Mitchell.

They reportedly lowballed the Utah Jazz, thinking they could one-up every other team in the league, and then the Cleveland Cavaliers emerged out of the left field to lure him to The Land.

Now, a report by Knicks insider Stefan Bondy (via The New York Post) reveals that they refused to include Quentin Grimes in any trade package for Mitchell.

That made some sense at the moment, considering that Grimes was a promising prospect who was expected to have a prominent role on the team.

Fast forward to today and Grimes has shown his frustration over Tom Thibodeau’s short leash, barely taking shots out of fear of being benched.

Also, he knows his defense isn’t the best, which is another reason why he’s constantly afraid of being sent to the bench.

Mitchell, on the other hand, is putting up huge numbers in Cleveland alongside Darius Garland, and while they still have to prove themselves at the highest level, he was just the guy the Knicks needed to take a major leap forward.
