Jalen Brunson is now the king of the New York Knicks.
In just a couple of seasons, Brunson has become a wildly successful and beloved part of the team and just helped them reach the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Even though the team didn’t make it past that, it’s very clear that the fans in New York love Brunson and the front office is eager to keep him around for a very long time.
According to Steve Popper, via Evan Sidery, the Knicks are likely going to offer Brunson a four-year, $156 million extension this offseason.
“In total, it would become a five-year, $181 million restricted deal for Brunson,” Sidery wrote.

In the grand scheme of things, that’s a relatively cheap price point for someone who is doing so much for the team and could be the face of the franchise for many years.
In 2023–24, Brunson averaged 28.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game.
But it was during the postseason when Brunson shined the brightest, posting 32.4 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game.
Brunson was easily the team’s most important player and many people considered him the best star of the playoffs along with Anthony Edwards and Nikola Jokic.
The Knicks’ playoff run obviously didn’t end as they wanted but everyone in the organization is very excited for what the future might hold.
The team was hobbled by injuries this year and they know that things could have been very different had everyone been healthy.
Brunson himself was the victim of an injury in the last game when he fractured his hand.
Now he has some time off to recover and plot a path into next season.
And during his time off, he will also receive a huge payday from his team.
