The New York Knicks are on the verge of entering the postseason, which is undeniably good news for loyal fans of the team.
However, they will be embarking on the playoffs without one of their biggest stars.
On Thursday morning, Chris Haynes reported that Julius Randle will not play anymore this season and is about to have surgery on his right shoulder.
The former Most Improved Player of the Year will be re-evaluated in five months.

This is a tough break for the Knicks, who loved what they saw from Randle this season.
Randle’s final average for 2023-24 will be 24 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5 assists.
He was a vital part of the team’s lineup during his 46 games and was working even better alongside Jalen Brunson.
When he went down with his shoulder injury in January, fans of the Knicks were hopeful they would see Randle return before the playoffs.
Again and again, the team was non-committal about a timeline for his return and now it’s clear that he won’t be back at all.
The Knicks have still won many games without Randle but the loss of him surely hurts.
Injuries have been a problem for the team all season long, with Randle’s being the biggest one.
Just months before, the Knicks also lost Mitchell Robinson, who injured his ankle, and OG Anunoby has also been struggling with an elbow injury that won’t seem to go away.
The Knicks are currently the fifth-best team in the East with a 44-31 record.
They have had one of their strongest seasons in years and have seemed more competitive.
Even without Randle, they could still make a big splash in the playoffs.
With that being said, this news is truly disappointing for the team and its fans.
