The New York Knicks have already made the biggest splash of the NBA offseason so far with their trade for Mikal Bridges, and fans are thinking about what’s next for the team as it gets set to make a run for a championship next season.
One veteran is going to be heavily relied upon to anchor this roster and recently clapped back at critics about his injury concerns.
Knicks center Mitchell Robinson posted on X saying “Idk why I looked this up but…for people to say I’m always ‘injured’ only had 2 years of my career where I didn’t play more than half the season, the other 4 seasons I played more than half the year” before adding that he’s “got something cooking up.”

This isn’t super encouraging if you’re a Knicks fan, as the team is potentially going to lose Isaiah Hartenstein to free agency due to cap constraints and Robinson will be needed to be this team’s primary center.
Playing more than half the season in four out of six years is not the most encouraging endorsement, but it is some creative goal-post-moving by Robinson.
In a Tom Thibodeau system, players are often asked to play a ton of minutes, especially in the playoffs where we saw Knicks such as Jalen Brunson, Donte DiVincenzo, and Josh Hart often play the entire game.
Robinson has never played more than 28 minutes per game and has never played more than 72 games in a season.
He has missed 124 games over the last four seasons, so taking a combative approach here is an odd move.
The critics have a reason to be frustrated.
