August 24th is a special day not only for Los Angeles Lakers fans, but for NBA fans as a whole.
It’s the day the community honors the late great Kobe Bryant, as it features both of his jersey numbers (24 and 8).
That’s why, according to Kobe Highlights & Motivation, the Santa Monica pier will honor the NBA legend on that day, with the Ferris wheel light display going from 7:30 PM to midnight.

It’s been three years since the legendary shooting guard left us in that tragic and shocking helicopter accident.
Kobe was one of the most influential figures in the sports industry, inspiring people left and right on and off the basketball court.
Besides his well-known success as a basketball player, Kobe’s success as an entrepreneur was also one of the many reasons why he was so sought-after by the younger generation of players.
His legacy will live on for as long as we continue to see his jersey, his sneakers, and his apparel on the streets all over the world, or every time someone yells ‘Kobe’ after throwing a ball.
Even those who didn’t like him as a person or a player never had a choice but to tip their hats to him.
So, after all he gave to the game and the people, this nice initiative seems like the least they can do to honor a man who always strived to be the best among the best.
