On Thursday, the Seattle Mariners had an offensive explosion at Yankee Stadium as they downed the New York Yankees by a final score of 10-2.

Star second baseman and two-time Gold Glover Kolten Wong had a hand in Seattle’s big win, as he hit his first home run of the season.

The 32-year-old has not had a very good season, hitting just .167 in 126 at-bats.

However, he had two hits in the win over the Yankees.

After the game, the former Gold Glove second baseman got a chance to catch up with MLB Network’s Jon Morosi and discuss his big home run.

Seattle hit four homers on Thursday night.

Wong expressed his gratitude towards the Mariners for sticking by him despite his rough start to the season.

The star second baseman said it felt good to finally connect with one and deliver for the Mariners.

Wong says his goal when he was traded over from the Milwaukee Brewers was to continue to help the Mariners win and trend upwards after snapping their playoff drought.

He praised his teammates for their drive and desire to play every day and try to bring the team wins.

The veteran second baseman predicted that once the Mariners get hot, things are going to get interesting.

Finally, Wong praised young starter Bryan Woo, who earned his first career win after tossing 5.1 innings of scoreless baseball.

Wong was impressed by the way the young right-hander set the tone and pitched at a consistent pace against the Yankees.
