The Colorado Rockies enjoyed a nice homecoming on Thursday when they opened up their home slate of games against the Washington Nationals.
The team needed just one run to beat the Nats and improve to 3-4 on the season.
But in a place that is known for the long-ball, 1-0 wins are quite rare.
Kyle Freeland, however, pitched a gem against the Nationals.
The left-hander lasted 6.2 innings, struck out five, didn’t allow a run on four hits.
On Twitter, the Rockies celebrated his accomplishment with a cool graphic that featured his line from Thursday.

To make matters even better, Freeland is a Colorado native and grew up cheering for the Rockies.
And on the day of the Rockies home opener, he got to pitch in front of the home fans and got a chance to dominate.
Freeland didn’t waste that opportunity, as he stuck it to the Nationals for 6.2 innings.
The veteran left-hander also only allowed two walks.
After his exit, relievers Justin Lawrence and Pierce Johnson held the Nationals at bay and secured the win for the Rockies.
The 29-year-old is now 2-0 on the season and has yet to allow an earned run through 12.2 innings pitched.
He also has a WHIP of 0.79.
For his career, Freeland is 51-51 with a 4.20 ERA in 157 appearances and 841.1 innings of work.
He even has 647 strikeouts to his name.
And he couldn’t have asked for a better Opening Day as he defeated the Nationals with relative ease.
