The Los Angeles Dodgers made use of their enormous organizational pitching depth and called up prospect Kyle Hurt in time for Tuesday’s game against the San Diego Padres.

Hurt began the year in Double-A as a starter, getting the ball 15 times from the outset and relieving four times.

However, once he got to Triple-A, he made five relief appearances and just one start.

The team was preparing him for a multi-inning relief role, and he had the chance to make his MLB debut on Tuesday by pitching two excellent innings.

The first batters he had to face?

Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto, and Manny Machado.

You can say he got thrown into the fire, and the kid responded in a very big way.

“Kyle Hurt just retired Tatis, Soto and Machado in order in his first big league inning,” B/R Walk-Off tweeted.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, Hurt came back for a second inning of work and struck out the side.

Overall, he pitched two perfect innings with three punchouts.

With a lively fastball with a lot of movement and a slider, he sat down every Padre he faced and looks like he could be a force from the Dodgers bullpen in the stretch run.

Competition for roster spots in LA is fierce, but if Hurt pitches like he did in Double-A and Triple-A, he could find himself on the playoff roster.

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves: instead, let’s all celebrate the rise of another impressive multi-inning ace in the Dodgers bullpen.

He has everything to be a successful player in that role for years to come.
