The Chicago Bears made the blockbuster decision to select quarterback Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Their hope is that he becomes a superstar.

Former Bears player Kyle Long recently appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” to give his take on Williams and the Bears heading into the 2024 NFL season.

“This league is one that requires a superstar to get you to the pinnacle of it. … Chicago has themselves a superstar,” Long said.

In their entire franchise history, the Bears have never had an athlete at quarterback like the one they have right now in Williams.

In his final two seasons of college football at USC, he put up 93 total touchdowns and just 10 interceptions.

He is as electrifying a prospect as you will see enter the league.

He also is not going to be alone in his quest to return the Bears back to relevancy.

The skill-position group around him is loaded with talent in the form of six-time Pro Bowl receiver Keenan Allen, multitime 1,000-yard receiver D.J. Moore, and first-round pick Rome Odunze.

A 1,000-yard running back in D’Andre Swift was also signed this offseason.

With this supporting cast, Williams has a real shot to not only make the Bears competitive right away, but he has a chance to possibly take them to the playoffs in his rookie year.

In a loaded NFC North, any team has a shot on any given Sunday, but only one team has Williams under center.
