Ahead of the clash with the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night at Scotiabank Arena, Miami Heat guard Kyle Lowry opened up about his intentions for his future in the NBA.

At 37 years old, Lowry is no longer a spring chicken in the NBA and knows that the end of his basketball career is drawing near, with potentially only a short time left to keep suiting up in the league.

That said, Lowry had no problem admitting that when he does officially retire from the NBA, he intends to sign a one-day contract with the Raptors in order to retire with the team he spent the most time with and won an NBA title with alongside Kawhi Leonard in 2019, via NBA Canada’s Twitter account.

Along with DeMar DeRozan and Vince Carter, Lowry is easily one of the most popular players to come through the Raptors organization and he showed a lot of loyalty to the team during his time there.

When the time comes, the Raptors will likely have no problem signing Lowry to a one-day contract in order for him to retire with the team that he obviously loves and adores to this day.

It’s not out of the realm of possibility that Lowry gets his number retired by the team and is welcomed back as one of the players who helped the franchise become what it is today.

In the meantime, Lowry will continue his playing career with the Heat in hopes of winning another title before officially calling it a career in the near future.
