The NBA is trying to crack down on flopping and recently implemented a new rule to combat the age-old tactic of drawing a foul.

The new NBA rule says that a flop will result in a technical foul and a free-throw attempt by the opposing team.

Obviously, this could have a huge impact on a number of players and teams.

Kyle Lowry of the Miami Heat doesn’t think it’ll affect him at all.

Speaking to Ira Winderman, via NBACentral, Lowry claimed that he doesn’t flop so he isn’t concerned with this rule change.

Lowry’s sentiment is smart: if players just don’t flop, they won’t have to worry about this new rule and the penalties that come with it.

However, that won’t stop plenty of stars from still trying to get refs to give them a foul via flopping.

Flopping has been part of the NBA for decades now and it can sometimes really upset fans because it appears to be so blatant.

It also slows down games, which the league definitely doesn’t want.

Allowing the refs to punish players employing the flop will minimize it but it could also add controversy.

Any debated call from the referees will result in a backlash from the fans and perhaps pushback from analysts and commentators too.

This won’t completely stop all flopping because there are a number of stars who rely on it often.

There are many players in the league who are infamous for their insistence on flopping.

How will they all fare in the upcoming season with these new rules?
