Over the last few months, there’s been constant rumors and speculation about the status of contract negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, as he wants a lucrative long-term deal, and the team seems reluctant to adhere to his contract demands.
Things have gotten so bad in the process of these contract negotiations that Aiyuk has asked the team to trade him, as he seems to believe the team will never get to his asking price.
However, the 49ers brass haven’t had a sense of urgency to grant his trade request and have been going through the motions during training camp while Aiyuk remains in limbo, with no telling what the future holds for the rising star.
On Tuesday, more trade rumors surfaced involving Aiyuk, with a few different teams emerging as trade suitors, like the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers, so there’s definitely some interest out there.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan addressed the media and provided an update on Aiyuk’s status with the team via 49ers on NBCS.
“No, you always want it to be. Badly,” Shanahan said. “This stuff does take time and every day I hope it gets resolved, but I have no timetable on it.”

At this point, it seems as though the situation could go either way, whether they finally agree to terms with Aiyuk on a new deal or trade him elsewhere if they like the trade packages being offered.
Only time will tell how things pan out between Aiyuk and the 49ers, but it seems highly likely he will be traded before Week 1.
