The San Francisco 49ers have been highly discussed during the offseason.
Many fans have been curious about their plans at quarterback, given the uncertainty surrounding Brock Purdy.
The team recently named Sam Darnold as their QB2, relegating Trey Lance as QB3 on the depth chart.
While this information was only made public recently, Kyle Shanahan believes his intentions have been clear all along.
In a recent conversation shared via Around the NFL, Shanahan said, “I feel like we’ve said that [Purdy will be the starter] 100 percent consistent since day one.”
Kyle Shanahan says Brock Purdy has always been unquestioned QB1 for Niners: “It actually blows my mind that there’s confusion because I feel like we’ve said that 100 percent consistent since Day 1”https://t.co/oZPR8FctL9 pic.twitter.com/OhQW9N7yJO

Shanahan’s comments are in the wake of public confusion.
Many fans and pundits believed Lance and Darnold were in the running for the starting gig, which Shanahan refutes.
It appears his staff has been confident in Purdy since the beginning, knowing he’d be the team’s starter.
When Darnold was brought in during the offseason, it was believed that he’d fight for significant playing time in this offense.
However, that was at a time when the status of Purdy’s elbow was still in question.
Now that he’s proven to be healthy and ready to go, no further questions remain for Shanahan.
The 49ers spent significant draft capital on Lance, trading several first-round picks for him.
Moving on from him to Purdy tells fans what they think of Lance, and they’re done with him for now.
In the wake of this announcement, pundits have been quick to draw up trade proposals for Lance, which could give him another opportunity with a new team.
