With all the uncertainty regarding Brandon Aiyuk’s situation, the San Francisco 49ers needed to consider all their options.

That’s why they continued to dig deep into the free agent WR market, and they made a move at a veteran.

The Niners signed Robbie Chosen, formerly known as Robbie and Robby Anderson.

And while he hasn’t been very productive in years, HC Kyle Shanahan still thinks there was a lot to like about his game.

When asked about him, the Niners coach claimed to be ‘a fan’ of him (via 49ers on NBC Sports).

He pointed out the fact that he spent last year in a similar offense when he signed for the Miami Dolphins, who are coached by former Niners offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel.

Shanahan also praised him for being physical and a very versatile route-runner, as he can work in multiple spots of the offense.

The latest reports claim that Aiyuk and the Niners are finally working towards reconciliation and getting a new deal done, so perhaps snaps will be hard to find for Anderson, provided he even makes the final roster cut.

But even if that’s the case, it wouldn’t hurt to keep a proven veteran around on the practice squad just in case, especially considering how much the Niners have struggled with injuries over the years.

There’s not much room for error for the Niners this time around, and every move they make could end up having a huge impact on their pursuit of the ultimate glory.
