If we had to choose the best and most consistent player on the 2023 Houston Astros, it would probably be Kyle Tucker.
Jose Altuve and Yordan Alvarez lost considerable chunks of games with injuries, while Chas McCormick, Yainer Diaz, and Alex Bregman have all been great but not at Tucker’s level.
On Sunday, his amazing season continued, with two triples.
Oddly enough, they were his first two triples of the season, and they came in the same inning.
“Kyle Tucker triples this season: March 30th – September 9th: 0. Today in the 6th inning: 2,” MLB on FOX tweeted.

It’s really amazing that he has 32 doubles and 26 home runs, but didn’t have any triples before Sunday’s game.
It doesn’t matter: Tucker has been elite anyway even without too many three-baggers.
He is slashing a robust .290/.375/.513 with a .888 OPS, providing 28 stolen bases as well with just four caught stealing.
Simply put, he does everything well on a baseball field, including defense.
He is perhaps MLB’s most underrated star and that has been the case for a while now.
He had one of those rare innings in which things that usually don’t happen a lot occur.
If anything, the triples outburst displayed his ability to send the ball to the gaps and to run the bases.
With most of their offensive core healthy, the Astros have taken possession of first place in the AL West and managed to build a 2.5-game lead over the Seattle Mariners.
The reigning World Series champs won’t go down easily.
