The Dallas Mavericks are on the verge of pushing the Los Angeles Clippers out of the playoffs.

The two teams are set to face off on Friday night and the Mavericks hold a 3-2 advantage in the series.

Fans of the Mavericks should be somewhat optimistic because Kyrie Irving has a terrific record when it comes to closeout games.

According to StatMamba, Irving has the best record in NBA history in these types of games, at 12-0.

Does that mean that the Clippers are guaranteed to lose on Friday night?

Not necessarily.

All records are meant to be broken and the Clippers really have something to prove in Game 6.

After a humiliating defeat in Game 5, the Clippers are desperate to even the series could come out much stronger on Friday.

However, there is a lot stacked against them.

Game 6 will be held in Dallas with the raucous Mavericks home crowd who will be cheering louder than ever.

Additionally, Luka Doncic has been in fine form all series long and Irving has this incredible record in closeout games.

For a number of reasons, things aren’t looking good for the Clippers.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are hoping to get through this series so they can push onto the second round.

If they can put the Clippers down, the Mavericks will then move on to the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.

That series would be even more challenging than the current one against the Clippers.

The Mavericks are solely focused on Friday night’s game, and then they can start to plan for what comes after that.

Will Irving’s one-of-a-kind record in closeout games continue?
