Luka Doncic heard the negative reviews of his performance in Game 3 of the NBA Finals and had a big response on Friday night.

Doncic did incredibly well during Game 4, giving his team a needed win and keeping the series alive.

After the game, Kyrie Irving spoke to the press about his teammate’s night and how it silenced the critics.

“I think he made a few people eat their words, in a healthy way,” Irving said, per Noah Weber.

Irving said that this series has been Doncic’s first experience playing on such a big stage.

With that sort of exposure comes a lot of responsibility and attention.

During Game 3, Doncic didn’t provide enough defense and earned six fouls, leading to his ejection toward the end of the game.

His bad defense, his complaints to the refs, and his ejection caused a lot of people to say he was a net negative for his team.

Irving mentioned that he has told his teammates to stay off social media but apparently, Doncic caught wind of what people said about him.

And when Friday night rolled around, he was ready to make them regret speaking poorly about him.

Doncic scored 29 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals on the way to a massive 122-84 win over the Celtics.

Now the Mavericks have one win under their belt and have a chance for another on Monday night.

If Doncic can play like this again during Game 5, Dallas has a chance to secure a second win before returning to Texas for Game 6.

Perhaps he has turned a page, is starting a new chapter in this series, and will be playing like the MVP contender he is.

The Mavericks are in a very deep hole still but they have a slim chance if Doncic keeps showing up like he did on Friday.
