The Dallas Mavericks drew plenty of criticism when they traded for Kyrie Irving last season.
Off-court controversies aside, some questioned if he could coexist with Luka Doncic, as they’re both ball-dominant players with an offensive mindset and little-to-no commitment and impact on the defensive end of the floor.
The early returns were discouraging, as they crumbled at the end of the season and didn’t even make the playoffs.
Now, they’ve gone to great lengths to surround them with the kind of players they needed to thrive, and it seems like they’ve clicked on both ends of the floor.
That’s why, despite their recent loss to the Golden State Warriors, Kyrie is quite excited about this team for the remainder of the season.
Following the loss, he stated that the team’s offense makes him feel like they’re never really out of any game, and they’ve backed that up on the court (via Brad Townsend).

No one doubted their offensive potential, as we’re talking about two of the craftiest, most talented, and explosive scorers this game has ever seen.
Even so, the way they’ve been able to coexist, take turns, and share the ball has been remarkable, as they haven’t let ego get in the way of their goal.
Some still have some doubts about Jason Kidd as a tactician and his ability to make adjustments come playoff time.
But even if this team might still be a piece away, you definitely don’t want to come across this kind of talent in a seven-game series.
