Whenever a talented young player comes into the NFL, especially at a skill position like running back, there’s bound to be comparisons to great players that have come before him.
That’s precisely what is happening with talented youngster Bijan Robinson, who the Atlanta Falcons were impressed enough to select No. 8 overall out of the University of Texas in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Robinson was expected to be the first running back taken in the draft, but few thought he’d be taken in the top 10, let alone for another back be taken shortly after, with the Detroit Lions bringing in Jahmyr Gibbs out of Alabama at No. 12.
The Falcons feel like Robinson can be a game-changer, as he has gotten comparisons to Hall-of-Famer LaDainian Tomlinson, who recently reacted to the comparison by saying the following about the incoming rookie, according to The Athletic via ESPN Fantasy Sports.

The fact that Tomlinson believes that the comparisons are “fair” is saying something, which could result in another superstar coming into the league at the running back position.
During his prime in the NFL with the then-San Diego Chargers, Tomlinson crushed the competition on a weekly basis as part of a great duo with Philip Rivers.
Unfortunately for Robinson, the quarterback position in Atlanta is a bit shaky at the moment, with Desmond Ridder taking over for Marcus Mariota last season, and there’s no telling whether he’ll be the right man for the job under center on a long-term basis.
However, Robinson and Ridder have a chance to build something special in Atlanta alongside other talented young players like Drake London and Kyle Pitts.
