The Los Angeles Lakers draw headlines unlike any team in the NBA – including the world champion Boston Celtics.
From their explosive hiring of J.J. Redick to be their new head coach to their attempts to keep the legendary LeBron James in the purple and gold, the Lakers are the signature brand of the NBA.
Now, management may be looking eastward for another piece to improve the lineup and push the team to playoff success before James rides off into the sunset.
Matt Moore of Hardwood Paroxysm via NBA Central noted that the Lakers may be interested in Brooklyn’s Cam Johnson as an addition to the first lineup Redick will run out onto the court in LA.

The 6-8 power forward entered the league in 2019 with Phoenix before moving on to Brooklyn two seasons ago.
His time with the Nets saw a significant increase in point production as Johnson improved from the 10.7 points per game average he achieved in Phoenix to a more robust 14.3 points per contest in Brooklyn.
Adding to his impressive offensive resume is a sterling .537 career 2-point field goal percentage.
Many expect the Nets to engage in a fire sale of players after trading Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks, and rebuilding their roster could see Johnson shipped out of town – and possibly to California.
The Lakers are certainly a work in progress, and Johnson would be a nice piece to add to the playoff puzzle.
The team is under pressure to improve as James approaches the end of his career, and the rapidly closing window could be propped open longer with Johnson in the lineup.
