The Los Angeles Lakers may have found their guy already.
Even though an official announcement has yet to come — and it might not come until after the NBA Finals — all signs point to them going after JJ Redick.
Redick has zero coaching experience, which is why some people have met these reports with some skepticism.
However, a report by Jovan Buha of The Athletic states that the organization is “infatuated” with his potential.
The Lakers are infatuated with J.J. Redick’s potential.
Redick’s maniacal competitiveness and attention to detail are among the things L.A. loves, writes @jovanbuha.
And that includes what he does differently from his predecessor.https://t.co/mTi8lvJY4N pic.twitter.com/YceUMk4bHs

They believe that his attention to detail and competitive nature make him an ideal fit for their roster.
Of course, Redick is a very knowledgeable basketball head; you just need to hear him talk about hoops on one of his podcasts to realize that.
He also has LeBron James’ ear, which is a factor that should never be overlooked.
He wouldn’t be the first former NBA player to find success as a first-time coach, and he might not be the last one, either.
Also, it’s not like there are many feasible candidates with a proven track record of success in the league, and it’s not like they will get George Karl or Phil Jackson to come out of retirement.
Still, the Lakers might not be the best starting point for a rookie coach.
The pressure will always be high, even though they don’t seem to have a roster that’s good enough to compete for an NBA championship.
Also, his friendship with LeBron could make some people in the locker room question his authority, so this is a tough spot to be in.
