After flaming out of the NBA playoffs in epic fashion, with the team losing to the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets in the first round, the Los Angeles Lakers didn’t waste any time making a decision on Darvin Ham’s future with the team.

The Lakers promptly fired Ham after two seasons in Los Angeles and now have begun their search for his successor, which has proven to be difficult due to the lack of viable options in terms of experienced head coaches that can lead a title contender next season and beyond.

Ironically enough, the Lakers seem to favor ESPN’s JJ Redick in this search for a new head coach, even though he has zero experience and is LeBron James’ co-host on a basketball podcast.

Even though it might be only a matter of time before Redick gets the job in Los Angeles, the team’s front office is doing its due diligence in its coaching search, and several candidates are expected to be interviewed.

One of those candidates is Chris Quinn, a longtime assistant on Erik Spoelstra’s coaching staff with the Miami Heat.

According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, the Lakers are interested in Quinn as they begin interviewing for Ham’s successor.

At this point in time, it is uncertain which candidates outside of Redick have a decent shot at landing the job in Los Angeles, but anything can happen moving forward, as all it will take is a stellar interview in order to elevate one of these candidates.

Other notable names mentioned in his coaching search include David Adelman, Micah Nori, Sam Cassell, Sean Sweeney, and James Borrego.
