The Los Angeles Lakers seem to be in the news a lot during the offseason.

The Lakers are among the most iconic NBA franchises, so it makes sense that they are a commonly-discussed team.

Many people have speculated that the Lakers will make several moves ahead of the 2024-2025 NBA season, hoping to revamp their roster.

While LeBron James’ name has been brought up a lot in recent conversations, other players are also on the docket.

As Jovan Buha reported via NBA Central, one such player is Jarred Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt signed a four-year contract extension with the Lakers ahead of the 2022-2023 season, but he hasn’t exactly panned out as well as the team would have hoped.

He has only played in 55 games over the past two seasons, which isn’t a good sign for the Lakers moving forward.

Vanderbilt has dealt with his fair share of injuries lately, and while the Lakers might like him as a player, the best ability he can give them is availability.

Considering the fact that the Lakers are trying to make the most out of their remaining time with James, they most likely do not want to wait around for Vanderbilt to get back to full health.

They should remain focused on building the best possible team to compete for the next few seasons, as their championship window might be closing.

Replacing Vanderbilt could be a tall task given his recent injuries and the two years left on his contract, but there could be a team out there looking for a solid role player when healthy.
