In a shocking turn of events, it seems like JJ Redick will no longer be the Los Angeles Lakers’ next coach.
When most rumors and reports pointed at the former sharpshooter as the leading candidate, ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski has a new report.
Apparently, the Lakers are ready to ‘escalate discussions’ in the coming days to make University of Connecticut coach Dan Hurley their new coach.

Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss already had preliminary contact with Hurley, and they’ve been quite impressed with his tactical acumen and player development.
Under Hurley, UConn has won back-to-back NCAA championships, making him one of the most respected and sought-after coaches in the collegiate scene.
The 51-year-old has talked about being an NBA coach in the past.
Also, LeBron James recently claimed to love what he does on offense, talking to JJ Redick on their podcast about that.
Should James return to the Lakers as expected, and should the team use one of their draft picks to land his son Bronny, adding Hurley to the mix would be a guarantee of focus on young player development.
As for Redick, he claimed that he would address Shams Charania’s reports in due time, most likely after the NBA Finals, and it’ll be interesting to hear what he has to say.
