The start of the 2023-24 NBA season is right around the corner, with the Los Angeles Lakers and the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets set to tip things off on Tuesday, October 24, in the Mile High City.
With most teams in the league having one or two games left on their preseason schedule, coaching staffs and front offices around the league are looking at their roster and the players they brought in for training camp, with cuts needing to be made.
On Monday, the Lakers officially parted ways with three players that they brought in as extra bodies for training camp, with none of the three making enough of an impact to earn a spot on a roster that is arguably the deepest in the NBA.
The most notable name of the three players the Lakers waived on Monday was the son of former Chicago Bulls superstar Scottie Pippen.
Scotty Pippen Jr. was with the Lakers last season after going undrafted and signing a two-way deal with the team, where he spent most of his time with the South Bay Lakers and now faces an uncertain future, via NBACentral.

Along with Pippen, the Lakers waived Vincent Valerio-Bodon and Damion Baugh.
All of these players were expected to be waived unless they had some breakout performances during the preseason, but unfortunately for them, they didn’t see the floor much, which doesn’t bode well for them finding another job quickly.
However, Pippen might have another shot to continue playing with South Bay or potentially get picked up by another team due to his body of work.
