The Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly pretty close to getting their new coach.

According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, they could lure Dan Hurley away from UConn to become their new boss.

Needless to say, everybody will discuss the potential implications that this could have for LeBron James, especially considering he could become a free agent.

James seems to be on board with his move, and he even praised coach Hurley in the past.

More than that, Rob Pelinka and Jeanie Buss are finally thinking about the future and the post-LeBron era, which is all the more reason to go after the 51-year-old.

According to Woj’s report (via Evan Sidery), the Lakers believe that Hurley could bring the most out of three of their young players: Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and Max Christie.

Lakers management believes three “young core” players could show great improvement under the guidance of Dan Hurley, per @wojespn (https://t.co/0yweBism1k):

Notably, Christie was great in the Summer League last season and was expected to have a more prominent role, yet he was barely able to crack Darvin Ham’s rotation.

Reaves looked like a rising star but kind of regressed or hit a wall last season, but he’s still young and talented.

As for Hachimura, he’s not particularly the youngest player at 26 years old, but he’s shown some upside as a two-way forward.

On top of that, if the Lakers are serious about getting Bronny James in the NBA Draft, it’s hard to think of a better coach than one coming fresh off two NCAA titles and who has a long track record of developing young players in his program.
