The NBA has always been a league where the star players feel free to move between teams.
Most of the best players in the league have changed teams multiple times.
One move that changed the course of NBA history happened five years ago to the day.
That was when LeBron James signed with the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason.

Unlike when James went to the Miami Heat this move did not come as a huge surprise.
He was ready to move on from Cleveland, and the Lakers always seemed like the perfect fit.
Since joining the Lakers, James has won one NBA championship which came in the 2020 bubble season.
He also became the leading scorer in NBA history last season.
He has a son that will be playing college basketball at USC, and James hopes one day to play with him in the NBA.
It will be interesting to see how these next few seasons go for James.
The Lakers seem primed to contend for an NBA title this upcoming season, and that could be what keeps him in LA.
Next year will be his age-39 season and it makes sense for James to start thinking about his next chapter.
