Last season, the Los Angeles Lakers finished as the seventh seed but still managed to reach the 2023 Western Conference Finals.

Sure, they were swept by Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, but the Lakers showed promise.

Keeping that in mind, the Purple and Gold kept most of its roster intact from the previous year, with a few additions.

However, the core of the team remains the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Speaking of the duo, the Lakers’ official Twitter handle recently tweeted a graphic featuring James and Davis from last year’s NBA Media Day to run it back.

The context of the tweet was a subtle shot at the Purple and Gold’s doubters.

Throughout the 2022-23 NBA season, many urged the organization to break up the championship-winning duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

But the 17-time NBA champions paid no attention to such requests.

Instead, James and Davis will be playing their fifth season together in hopes of bringing another title to the team.

James, 38, will be the leader of the roster, while Davis is expected to stay healthy and carry most of the offensive load for the team.

It’s not that James cannot be the primary scorer for the team, but in Year 21, the Lakers need to make sure they do not exhaust James prior to the postseason.

All things considered, the Lakers have one of the deepest rosters in the NBA heading into the new season.

But can the iconic franchise win another ring? That remains a huge question.
