Entering the 2023-24 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have all the makings of a title contender.
Despite getting swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals this past playoffs, the Lakers showed they have the talent and depth to hang with the best teams in the NBA.
Los Angeles managed to get even better this summer as they were able to re-sign their young core of players, as well as sign a bevy of useful free agents who project to be solid role players around LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
The Lakers managed to do most of their free agency work in July, so the last remaining question is what they would do with one of their final remaining roster spots.
When reviewing the team make up, it was clear that Los Angeles would need another center to backup Davis.
Christian Wood was a popular target that was linked to the Lakers and it appears that he’s finally agreed to a deal with them via Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Free agent F/C Christian Wood has agreed on a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, sources tell ESPN. Deal includes a player option.

Wood spent last season with the Dallas Mavericks but fell out of favor with head coach Jason Kidd, paving the way for him to find a new home.
The big man is a talented scorer who can stretch the floor and create his own shot, but there have been concerns about his attitude and his dedication to winning.
Despite the perceived flaws, getting Wood is a steal for the Lakers who now have another option in the front court should they ever need to switch up their lineups against opponents.
