When the Los Angeles Lakers selected Dalton Knecht as the No. 17 pick in the recent NBA draft, many people said he could end up being the steal of the summer.

That looks to be the case because Knecht has done terrific work during the Summer League.

According to Trevor Lane, Knecht is averaging 21.3 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 39% from the three-point line during his three games.

It’s a small sample size but it appears that Knecht is the real deal and could earn his place in the Lakers’ lineup next season.

He has been one of the standout stars of the Summer League and Lakers fans are very excited to see what he can do in 2024-25.

When the summer started, most people thought LA would be adding a lot of talent.

There were expectations for big-name acquisitions in the offseason but the Lakers haven’t made any moves yet.

That means there is a good chance that Knecht and LA’s other incoming rookie Bronny James might be the only new additions coming to Los Angeles.

James has suffered from a lot of problems during Summer League, although he showed progress in his last two games.

As for Knecht, he has been solid from the beginning.

His work in the Summer League has been so solid, in fact, that countless fans expect to see him on the floor in the new season.

Some even feel he could become a starter in a short amount of time.

Many outstanding rookies are coming into the NBA right now but few have made the impression that Knecht has in the Summer League.
