Despite being in his 21st season, LeBron James looked like he was able to turn back the clock during the 2023-24 NBA season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
James is single-handedly redefining how long veteran players can produce at an effective level in the NBA because he was still one of the best players in the league.
Although the Lakers were bounced out of the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs by the Denver Nuggets, it was hardly James’ fault as he had a strong series on both ends of the floor.
There were instances where James looked mortal as he didn’t have the same burst or explosiveness to finish near the rim at the end of the games, but was typically still able to make plays elsewhere.
Normally, older players have trouble getting up like they used to to throw down lobs or alley-oops but James still took every opportunity he could to finish those sorts of plays.
In fact, James set the record for most dunks for a player in their 21st season this past year, via the team’s official Twitter account.
“Dunks in 21st NBA Season: LeBron = 84. Every Other Player Combined = 27,” the team tweeted.

James having almost three times as many dunks as any player combined that late into their careers speaks volumes about his otherworldly athleticism.
The former No. 1 overall pick entered the league as a physical marvel and James continues to use his athletic gifts to get the job done.
With how good James looked, it stands to reason that he can continue to defy expectations once the 2024-25 NBA season tips off.
