The Los Angeles Lakers will celebrate a special day on Thursday.

They’ll unveil Kobe Bryant’s statue outside of Crypto.com Arena on an iconic day (2/8/2024) to remember him and his late daughter Gigi.

On top of that, they’ll unveil their signature “Black Mamba” jerseys for the game vs. the Denver Nuggets, according to a report by Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

The Lakers have had no shortage of superstars in their history.

Most of the greatest players to ever lace them up played for the Lakers at some point.

Even so, Kobe’s legacy in Los Angeles stands alone.

He brought the team back to its glory days, with and without Shaquille O’Neal, and became one of the most influential athletes of his generation and all time.

It’s been four years since he left us at just 41 years old, and it still doesn’t feel real.

Even his biggest detractors had no choice but to tip their hat to him and acknowledge his greatness and legacy on and off the court.

He was the closest thing to Michael Jordan, arguably the most competitive player in basketball history, and perhaps the last true two-way superstar.

Bryant inspired so many people, even outside of basketball.

His determination to one-up every single person around him and always be the best version of himself, his unmatched work ethic, and the relentless way he tried to perfect his craft were second to none.

Now, his figure will be immortalized outside of the very venue where he became a legend.
