The NBA trade deadline is less than two weeks away, with every team in the league evaluating their rosters and weighing their options in hopes of either upgrading their squad or being sellers with a rebuilding process on the horizon.
The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in limbo with the team having a rough season, but they seem to be turning things around as of late, with LeBron James and company coming off a double-overtime thriller against Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors.
All the talk surrounding the Lakers right now with the trade deadline looming is whether the team will move veteran guard D’Angelo Russell ahead of the deadline with Dejounte Murray of the Atlanta Hawks in it’s crosshairs.
All signs have pointed to the Lakers making the trade for Murray, but there have been a few snags on both sides, with Russell playing exceptionally well as of late and the Hawks not sold on the trade haul coming their way.
According to Trevor Lane of Lakers Nation, trade talks between the Lakers and Hawks have reached a standstill.
Can confirm Lakers talks with Hawks on a Dejounte Murray trade haven’t gone anywhere, as @TheSteinLine reported, and things have been quiet. Important to note that this time of year it takes one call to re-ignite conversations.

As Lane points out, all it takes is one phone call to get the trade talks back on track, and it’s likely that happens in some capacity, even if no deal comes to fruition to send Murray to Los Angeles.
With the clock ticking and not much time left to wheel and deal, it’ll be interesting to see what the Lakers end up doing and if there’s potentially another deal that can be made with a different team.
