The Los Angeles Lakers have started the NBA preseason with a great 2-1 record.

D’Angelo Russell and Rui Hachimura have been the clear standouts in three games so far.

But one player who hasn’t gotten much playing time due to injuries is Jarred Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt established himself as one of the best defenders for the Lakers last season.

Dave McMenamin brought rather unfortunate news to the Lakers fanbase via his official Twitter handle revealing that Vanderbilt will miss his third straight preseason game.

“There is no concern that Vando will not be ready in time for the season opener,” McMenamin reported.

Jarred Vanderbilt will miss his third straight preseason game tonight against GSW as the Lakers are “monitoring soreness” in Vanderbilt’s left heel, sources told ESPN. There is no concern that Vando will not be ready in time for the season opener, however.

Vanderbilt is reportedly out of the lineup due to the Lakers monitoring soreness in his left heel.

As a result, he’s expected to be sidelined for the Lakers’ next preseason game against the Golden State Warriors.

Speaking of the game, the Lakers will hope to take revenge of losing their previous preseason game.

However, not having Vanderbilt on the roster is certainly a drawback for the Lakers.

After all, he is an elite defender, often tasked to defend the best player on the opposing team.

From the Lakers’ point of view, they’d hope for Vanderbilt to be back on the roster before the regular season begins later this month.

The franchise can keep him out of action during the preseason to keep the 24-year-old fresh for the upcoming regular season.
